Season 2026-2027

The autumn term 2026 begins in week 36 and ends in week 50; supervised groups will be on a break during the school holidays in week 42. You can join the supervised exercise groups easily, even part-way through the term. Advance registration is required for some of the groups.

Groups and courses subject to a fee, for which advance registration is required, include ‘Wellbeing Exercise’, ‘Circuit Training’, ‘Fitness Training’, ‘Body Maintenance’, ‘Gentle Pilates’, ‘Gym Courses for Older People’ and ‘Lavis’.

Free groups requiring advance registration include the ‘Liikunnan löytäjät’ exercise advice group, Adapted Aquatic Exercise, and the exercise club for people with learning disabilities.

Payments

Seasonal fees for the groups are €35 per autumn term and €35 per spring term. Access to supervised groups is free with a Senior Card. Payments should be made at the Vesihovi cash desk. Payment options also include ePassi, Smartum, Tyky and Edenred Virike. If a participant in an exercise group withdraws for personal reasons, such as illness, the course or seasonal fee will not be refunded.


The program for the 2026–2027 season can be found in the Loimaa Adult Education Center study guide, which will be published in the fall, and in a separate brochure, which will be distributed in the fall at locations such as Vesihovi and libraries.

Changes to the start dates of groups and courses are possible. Changes will be announced here on the sports pages, on the sports Facebook page, and on the city’s Facebook channels. You can find more detailed information about the groups on the subpages. Please only participate in classes if you are healthy.

Liikunnan löytäjät – Exercise Advice Group

Wednesdays, 6–7 pm at Hirvihovi, starting 9 September 2026

Gain energy for everyday life and peer support from the group. A free exercise advice group for adults who are new to exercise or who don’t get much exercise. The group meets twice a month. In the group, you’ll get to try out different forms of exercise and work together to build routines that will help make exercise a permanent part of your daily life. The first session will be an introductory session providing information about the course content.

Instructor at the gym

During the autumn term, 1 September – 10 December 2026, except for week 42.

  • Tuesday: Hirvihovi gym, 11.00–12.00 (Kuusitie 1)
  • Wednesday: Hirvihovi gym, 17.00–18.00 (Kuusitie 1)
  • Thursday: Alastaro Hall gym, 3.00–4.00 pm (Vahvalantie 4)

An instructor will be on hand at the gym to help with adjusting equipment, demonstrate techniques and provide information on gym training. No prior booking required.

Library Walks

Library Walks at the Main Library (Kauppalankatu 17) on the first Thursday of every month from 10.00 to 11.00, starting on 3 September.

The library walks begin with about half an hour of group exercise, such as chair exercises, balance exercises or book exercises, led by an instructor from Loimaa’s sports services. Mobility limitations or the use of assistive devices are no barrier to participation. The rest of the session is spent exploring the services offered by the library, with the help of library staff.

Meet in the Elers Room at the main library at 10.00 (Kauppalankatu 17) on the first Thursday of every month, starting on 3 September. The library walks are free of charge.

Beginners’ course for seniors at the gym, autumn 2026

  • Hirvihovi gym, Kuusitie 1, Tuesdays from 15 September, 12.00–13.00
  • Mellilä gym, Sahantie 3, Wednesdays from 16 September, 13.00–14.00

Registration closes once the group is full. You can also register for the course by calling the fitness instructors.

The course comprises 8 guided sessions and 8 self-directed sessions. The Hirvihovi course has space for 12 participants and the Mellilä course for 6. During the first session, we will cover the importance and basic principles of strength training in theory, as well as carry out functional ability tests. The course fee is €35; with a senior card, the fee is 50% off (+ access card). Payments can be made at the Vesihovi cash desk or at the Mellilä library.

The sports services organize a wide range of guided groups, exercise campaigns, and events for residents throughout the year.

The main focus is on special exercise, but exercise guidance is also available in fitness and health exercise groups and in exercise groups for children and young people.
