Computers

All libraries have free access to patron machines. All library computers have Microsoft Office software for word processing and spreadsheets. If necessary, the staff will guide you through the use of the computers.

Printing, copying and scanning

Printing and copying is free of charge, but scanning to email is free. The maximum paper size for copying is A3. Copies are available in both black and white and colour. Printing is available from all client machines. Self-service printing is also available in the main library.

Wireless network

The libraries have a wireless network (wi-fi). To log in, you need a password, which you can get from the library.

Rooms to book

It is possible to reserve space for small exhibitions in the main library and the Alastaro library. Meeting rooms can be booked at the Main Library and Mellilä Library.

Equipment

The main library has a microfilm reader. The main library has microfilms of the Loimaan Lehti 1922-1997.
The Hirvikoski library offers digitalisation of material.

Studying and working

All libraries have workstations where you can concentrate on your work in peace and quiet. These workstations are not equipped with computers, but you can access the internet on your own device via a wireless network.

Ask a librarian

The Ask a Librarian service allows you to ask specific questions, get information on a topic of your choice, ask for reading recommendations or even a story from your childhood. Ask a Librarian is a joint information service of Finnish libraries, and in addition to the Loimaa City Library, nearly 90 libraries are involved. You can send your question using the form and you will receive an answer by e-mail within three working days.

Season tickets for league teams

Season tickets for Loimaan Palloilijoiden women’s and men’s baseball home games in the Finnish Baseball League can be borrowed from the main library. You can check the availability of season tickets by searching for “season ticket” in the online library. Season tickets can only be borrowed once during the season.

Senior Citizen Card

Four Senior Cards are available for loan from the main library for a one-week trial period. This will give older people considering a Senior Card a trial opportunity to try out the sporting and cultural facilities. You can check the availability of the Senior Cards by searching for “senior card” in the online library.

Loimaa products

Libraries sell Loimaa-branded products such as mugs, caps and bags. Payment by card or cash.

Read more

Readers are volunteers from the library who visit service homes and care homes to read aloud to older people. In this way, the library’s services can be passed on to those who are no longer able to use the library themselves.
