Season 2025-2026

The fall semester begins in week 36 (September 1) and ends in week 50. The spring semester 2026 begins in week 2 and ends in week 22, with guided groups taking a break during school holidays in weeks 42 and 8. The semester also includes short courses that will be announced separately, such as gym and exercise advice courses for seniors.

The program for the 2025–2026 season can be found in the Loimaa Adult Education Center study guide, which will be published in the fall, and in a separate brochure, which will be distributed in the fall at locations such as Vesihovi and libraries.

Changes to the start dates of groups and courses are possible. Changes will be announced here on the sports pages, on the sports Facebook page, and on the city’s Facebook channels. You can find more detailed information about the groups on the subpages. Please only participate in classes if you are healthy.

Instructor at the gym

Instructor at the gym starting September 4
Hirvihovi gym: Thu 10–11 a.m. (Kuusitie 1).
Alastaro Hall gym: Thu 3–4 p.m. (Vahvalantie 4).
The instructor will guide you in adjusting the equipment, techniques, and provide information on the main principles of gym training. Not available in weeks 42 and 8.

During the spring season, Tuesdays and Thursdays from January 13 to May 28, 2026, except for week 8.

Registration for groups and courses

Links to sign up for courses and groups starting in the spring will be posted below the course description, and registration for courses will begin on January 7 at 12 noon.

You can register for groups that started in the fall for the spring season. Registration links are open for groups that have space available. The registration links can be found in the group descriptions. Ask the instructors for more information if necessary. Seniors receive a discount on course fees and can participate in instructor-led groups free of charge with a senior card. Payments must be made at the Vesihovi cash desk before the start of the course/group.

Beginners’ course for seniors at the gym, spring 2026

Hirvihovi gym (Kuusitie 1)
Thursdays from January 29, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The course includes 8 guided sessions and 8 independent sessions. The course has room for 12 participants. The course fee is €30, with a 50% discount for senior citizens (+Hirvihovi gym access card).
Registration for the Hirvihovi beginner’s course starts on January 7 at 12:00 p.m. Register for the course.

Body maintenance

Mon 3:45–4:45 p.m.,
Hirvihovi tatami (Kuusitie 1)
A peaceful class that comprehensively improves mobility, core strength, and overall posture and body control. The movements are performed slowly and calmly, listening to your own body. Equipment may also be used during the classes. Price €30/autumn season, €30/spring season. Sign up for the Body maintenance group.

Circuit and Fitness

  • Circuit (2 groups): Tue 4:30–5:30 p.m. and 5:30–6:30 p.m.

An effective form of exercise, also known as circuit training, in which you move from one exercise to another and use equipment. Sign up for Circuit.

    Town Hall gym (Ylistaronkatu 36)

A brisk fitness training session that improves endurance, muscle strength, and motor control. The class involves exercising with your own body weight and using various equipment while listening to music. The class does not involve difficult step sequences. Sign up for Thursday’s fitness training.

Lavis® dance

Tuesdays 3:15–4:15 p.m.
Hirvihovi gym (Kuusitie 1)

Dance and exercise, work up a sweat while having fun. Lavis® is truly feel-good exercise. Three great things about it: easy, fun, and sweaty. The dance steps and choreography of stage dance aerobics are so easy that even inexperienced dancers can join in. Lavis is danced alone, so there is no risk of anyone stepping on your toes. Seasonal fee groups: fitness training, circuit training, body maintenance, feel-good exercise, and Lavis. Fees: €30/group/season. Free with a senior card. Payment at the Vesihovi cash desk. ePassi, Smartum, Tyky, and Edenred Virike are also accepted as payment options.

If a person who has registered for an exercise group interrupts their studies for personal reasons, such as illness, the course/season fee will not be refunded.

Exercise instruction

The sports services organize a wide range of guided groups, exercise campaigns, and events for residents throughout the year.

The main focus is on special exercise, but exercise guidance is also available in fitness and health exercise groups and in exercise groups for children and young people.

Special exercise groups include various groups that maintain functional capacity, such as chair, water, and dry land exercise classes.
