House of Arts
Loimaa Art House is located on the banks of the Loimijoki River, close to the town centre. The Art House was established on the basis of a bequest made by Eino (1924–2010) and Meeri Haapanen (1921–1996). Eino Haapanen was an art collector born in Metsämaa who spent his working life in the capital region. The art collection donated by the Haapanens includes 150 paintings, with a focus on Finnish landscape painting from the golden age of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A permanent exhibition is compiled annually from the collection.
The Loimaa City Art Collection consists mainly of works by local artists. The collection includes, among other things, Alpo Jaakola’s collection, a collection of plaster sculptures donated by Elias Anttila, and photography collections by Elias Hollo and Jaakko Tervasmäki. Works from the city’s art collection are on display in city offices, schools and institutions, in addition to the changing exhibitions at the Art House. The works in the city’s art collection are on display in city offices, schools and institutions, as well as in temporary exhibitions at the Art House.
The Loimaa Art Museum concert series features music ranging from classical to jazz. Tuesday concerts are held in the Meeri Hall once a month in autumn and spring. The Meeri Hall is also available for rent, for example for meetings.
