Library events for Spring 2025
In an open reading circle, you read and discuss the book beforehand. The first reading group of the spring is on 21 January, when the book on the agenda will be Rajattomuuden aika (2001) of Eeva Kilpi.
The Book Tips for Circulation -reading circle gives and receives reading recommendations. The themes for the reading circle sessions are decided together, and the books presented are chosen according to these themes. The reading circle meets once a month on Wednesdays at 18:00 in the Main Library. The meetings start on 15 January.
The Studia Generalia lecture -series takes place once a month on Thursdays at 17.30 in the Main Library Newsroom. Admission is free, no pre-registration required. In spring, the lectures will focus on Paavo Nurmi’s tour of America, the human history of Loimaa in the past and the life of Loimaa and Huittinen farms in the 1700s and 1800s. The lecturers will be Kalle Virtapohja, Sami Männistö and Kirsi Laine.
In the Novel nights, you can make crafts and listen to short stories. Novel nights are held once a month in both the Main Library and the Hirvikoski Library: the Main Library’s Novel Night starts on Wednesday 8 January at 18.00 and the Hirvikoski Library’s on Tuesday 21 January at 16.30.
Storytimes can be held in all libraries at individually agreed times, for example for day-care groups.
There are facilities for exhibitions in the Main Library and the Alastaro Library. Please contact the library if you are interested in holding an exhibition.
Library events are free of charge and open to all. No pre-registration required. Welcome!
