Come up with your ideas – participatory budgeting 2025 underway
The Council has approved an appropriation of 20.000 euro to be used for participatory budgeting. In 2025, the theme will be Loimaa families with children. The condition is that the proposed idea must be new and that it has not received funding in previous years. Within the budget of EUR 20,000, one or more ideas may be implemented, depending on the outcome of the vote. In participatory budgeting, ideas for implementation are collected from local residents in relation to the budget.
Ideas can be proposed both electronically (link to the Webropol survey – Finnish only) and on paper forms distributed in libraries, Vesihovi and the information desk at the City Hall. The deadline for submitting ideas is 27 April.
The application should be such that it can (as a rule) be implemented during 2025. Ideas can be related to events, improving the safety of the local environment, leisure facilities or even increasing the sense of community and well-being. Investments are not covered by participatory budgeting.
The implementation of an idea is a one-time cost and should not result in significant recurring staff or other operating expenses for the City in subsequent years. The idea can be implemented by the proposer or by the city; if the proposer is an individual or an unregistered group of individuals and the proposer wishes to implement the idea, the amount can only be paid afterwards against receipts.
A panel of experts from the city will evaluate the proposals and, if necessary, contact the proposer regarding the content and implementation of the idea. The selected proposals will be put to a vote in late May.
