House of Art
Loimaa Art House is located along the Loimijoki River, right in the city centre. The House of Art was founded by Eino (1924-2010) and Meeri Haapanen (1921-1996) through a donation in their will. Eino Haapanen was an art collector born in Metsämaa who made his life’s work in the Helsinki region. The Haapanen donated a collection of 150 paintings, mainly Finnish Golden Age landscape paintings from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. The collection will be the basis for an annually changing basic exhibition.
The art collection of the city of Loimaa consists mainly of works by local artists. The collection includes the Alpo Jaakola collection, the plaster sculpture collection donated by Elias Anttila and the photographic collections of Elias Hollo and Jaakko Tervasmäki. Works from the city’s art collection are on display in the city’s office buildings, schools and institutions, in addition to temporary exhibitions at the Art Gallery.
Loimaa Art Museum’s concert series features music from classical to jazz. Tuesday concerts are held in Meeri Hall about once a month in autumn and spring. Tickets for the concerts cost 10/8€, with a museum card 7/5€. Students of the Loimaan Region Music College have free admission to the concerts.
Meeri Hall is also available for rent, for example for meetings. The rental fee for Meeri Hall is €40 (for a maximum of four hours).
