Market places
The first Loimaa Market Days were held in the old market on the east side of the Turku-Toijala railway line on 11 March 1892. Loimaa Kauppatori moved to its current location in 1925.
Loimaa has two markets, Kauppatori, an active market in the city centre, and a more varied market in Alastaro. In addition, villages and towns have their own summer markets during events, which are announced in connection with the events.
In Loimaa, market days are Tuesday and Friday in summer. In other seasons only Friday. Vendors are available from 7am to 2pm all year round. During the summer, the market is buzzing with vendors and people. Loimaa Market Square offers a wide variety of seasonal goods such as vegetables, herbs, berries, meat, fish, baked goods, flowers and perennials, textiles such as clothes and carpets, handicrafts, flea markets and antiques.
In the traditional market café you can enjoy a bottle of coffee or other savoury and sweet treats. You can buy ice-cream and soft-serve ice-cream from the ice-cream stall. During the summer, there will be music performances on the stage of the square to match the atmosphere. People from Loimaa, former Loimaa residents and cottagers gather for shopping, chatting and coffee.
Established markets in Loimaa include the Young Traders’ Market in summer, the Women’s Summer Market and the Clay Day Market in October.
The Alastaro Summer Market is open on Saturdays from 9-12 from May to September. The market places in Alastaro are free of charge and do not need to be booked in advance.
Follow the events at the markets in the Loimaa events calendar.
Open Wi-Fi is available in the market area.
